Ontario Certificate of Status
Proof your corporation is active, in minutes.
An official one-page certificate from the Ontario Business Registry confirming your corporation's status. Banks, lenders, landlords and other businesses ask for it. Order it here for any Ontario corporation and get the PDF by email, day or night.
Who asks for a Certificate of Status
- Banks and lenders, when you open a business account, apply for a loan or line of credit, or refinance.
- Landlords, for a commercial lease in the corporation's name.
- Clients and partners, before signing contracts, supplier agreements or tenders.
- Lawyers and accountants, in a sale, purchase, financing or reorganization.
- Other provinces and countries, when registering your corporation to do business there.
Other provinces and many U.S. states call a similar document a certificate of good standing. In Ontario, the official document is the Certificate of Status, which certifies whether the corporation is active.
How to get it here
- Find your corporation by Ontario Corporation Number (OCN) or name on the order page.
- Confirm the official name and number from the registry, enter your email, and pay by card through Stripe.
- Get the PDF by email, usually within 5 minutes, any time of day. You can also download it from your order page.
No account, no Company Key and no registry login. The price is flat: $50, nothing added at checkout.
Ordering for a College renewal?
Most Ontario Colleges ask for the Corporation Profile Report instead, and some, like RCDSO, state that the Certificate of Status is not accepted. See which one you need.
Questions
Is this the official government document?
Yes. We order it from the Ontario Business Registry on your behalf and send you the PDF exactly as the registry issues it.
Which corporations can I order it for?
Any corporation registered in Ontario, including corporations you don't own: these are public records. Federal corporations (incorporated with Corporations Canada) get their certificates from Corporations Canada instead.
How recent does it need to be?
The bank, landlord or business asking decides, and many want one issued recently. Because it's ready in minutes, order it shortly before you need it.
How long does it take?
Usually within 5 minutes, at any hour, including evenings and weekends. If the registry is down for maintenance, a person finishes your order, normally within a few business hours.
Do I need a Company Key?
No. A Company Key is for making filings for your corporation. Ordering a Certificate of Status doesn't need one. More about Company Keys.
